๐ฌ FAQ
Questions? We've got you.
Everything you need to know about DoggyDays.
Is DoggyDays free?▼
DoggyDays is free to download with core features available at no cost. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but the essentials — dashboard, calendar, health records, and photos — will always be free.
Do I need a Fi collar to use DoggyDays?▼
Not at all! DoggyDays works great on its own as a comprehensive dog management app. The calendar, health records, photos, and essentials tabs work completely without a Fi collar. If you do have one, the Activity tab and Home dashboard come alive with real-time data.
Which devices are supported?▼
DoggyDays is built natively for iOS using SwiftUI, so it runs beautifully on iPhone. It requires iOS 17 or later. An Android version is in development.
Is my data secure?▼
Absolutely. Your Fi login credentials are stored securely in the iOS Keychain — the same secure storage that protects your passwords and Apple Pay info. Your pet's data is stored securely in Google Firebase with encryption in transit and at rest, enabling household syncing across family members. We don't share or sell any personal information, and all document scanning happens entirely on your device.
Can I manage multiple dogs?▼
Yes! DoggyDays is built for multi-pet households from the ground up. Each dog gets their own full profile with separate health records, calendar events, photos, activity data, and Fi collar connection. A slide-out sidebar lets you switch between pets instantly.
What is the vet expense tracker?▼
The vet expense tracker lets you log veterinary costs by uploading receipts or entering them manually. The app also shows how your spending compares to industry-average pet insurance coverage based on data from the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA). This is for informational purposes only — DoggyDays does not recommend, sell, or advertise any specific insurance provider.
How does Live Walk tracking work?▼
Start a walk from the Activity tab and your route is recorded in real time on the map. You can lock your phone or switch apps — the walk keeps recording in the background until you stop it. When you're done, you get a full summary with distance, duration, and your route. Walk data syncs to your household so family members can see it too.

The App is not a substitute for professional veterinary care. Health records, vaccine tracking, medication reminders, health status indicators, and any scanning-generated health insights are provided for organizational and informational purposes only. They do not constitute veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for your pet's medical needs.
4.5 Vet Expense Tracker & Insurance Comparison Disclaimer
The vet expense tracker and insurance comparison feature are provided for general informational and illustrative purposes only. Insurance savings estimates shown in the App are based on industry-average data published by the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA) and do not represent personalized quotes for your specific pet, breed, age, location, or health history. DoggyDays does not list, recommend, endorse, advertise, or promote any specific pet insurance provider. No individual insurance companies appear in the App. DoggyDays is not an insurance broker, agent, or advisor. The comparison is not a quote, offer, or solicitation. If you are considering pet insurance, consult directly with licensed insurance providers.
5. Smart Scanning Features
The App uses on-device optical character recognition (OCR) via Apple's Vision framework to scan and extract information from user-uploaded documents, including veterinary health records, DNA test results, and veterinary receipts. You acknowledge and agree that:
(a) Smart scanning is not guaranteed to be accurate. Extracted information may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all extracted data against original source documents.
(b) Source document references are provided as a convenience feature. These highlights and references are generated automatically and may not always accurately correspond to the correct sections.
(c) Breed facts, care tips, and health predisposition information generated from DNA scan results are for general educational and entertainment purposes only.
(d) Uploaded documents are processed on-device using Apple's Vision framework. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and process any documents you provide.
6. Third-Party Smart Collar Integration
The App integrates with third-party smart collar services, including Fi (tryfi.com), to display pet activity, location, and device data. You acknowledge and agree that:
(a) Your use of any third-party collar service is subject to that service's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. DoggyDays is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially partnered with Fi or any other collar manufacturer unless explicitly stated.
(b) DoggyDays is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, reliability, or timeliness of data provided by third-party services.
(c) Third-party integrations may change, break, or become unavailable at any time without notice.
(d) Location data displayed in the App should not be relied upon as the sole means of locating your pet.
7. Photos & User Content
You retain ownership of all photos, images, and content you add to the App. By using the App, you grant DoggyDays a limited, non-exclusive license to store and display your content solely within the App and within your household for the purpose of providing the service. For social features (Pup Cards, Lost Dog Alerts), content you choose to make publicly accessible is subject to the sharing settings you control within the App. You may deactivate public sharing at any time.
8. Social Features โ Pup Cards, Known Pups & Playdates
By using social features, you agree to: (a) only connect with users you have genuinely met or chosen to engage with; (b) not use Playdate invites or Pup Card sharing to harass, spam, or contact other users unsolicited; (c) not attempt to circumvent block or removal actions taken by other users; (d) accept that Known Pup connections are mutual and require consent from both parties.
DoggyDays reserves the right to suspend accounts that misuse social features. You may remove connections and block users at any time with immediate effect.
8.5 Lost Dog Alert
(a) The Lost Dog Alert feature publishes a public webpage to assist in locating a lost pet. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you choose to include. (b) You control which fields (contact info, location, vet details, microchip number) are included via individual opt-in toggles before publishing. (c) DoggyDays is not responsible for the outcome of a lost dog search and the feature is provided as an organizational tool only. Do not rely solely on this feature in an emergency โ also contact local shelters, veterinarians, and animal control. (d) Sighting reports submitted by the public are provided in good faith and are not verified by DoggyDays. You are responsible for evaluating sighting information before acting on it. (e) Marking your dog as found deactivates the public page immediately.
9. Multi-Pet Profiles
The App supports multiple pet profiles. Each profile maintains separate data. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of information across all pet profiles.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) misuse the App or use it for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to interfere with the App's operation; (c) attempt to access systems, APIs, or services you are not authorized to use; (d) use the App to collect data about other individuals without their consent; (e) use the App's scanning features to process documents you do not have the right to scan or upload; (f) use social features to harass, threaten, or stalk other users or their pets; (g) create false Lost Dog Alerts.

We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure; that any third-party integration will remain available; that extracted data will be accurate or complete; that insurance comparison data will be accurate or applicable to your situation; or that use of the Lost Dog Alert feature will result in the recovery of a lost pet.
13. Limitation of Liability

14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DoggyDays and its developers from any claims arising from your use of the App, violation of these Terms, content you upload, decisions you make based on information provided by the App, or your use of social features or Lost Dog Alert.

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the developer resides.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
DoggyDays ("the App," "we," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Account Information
To use DoggyDays, you create an account using Apple Sign In or email and password. We collect: (a) your Apple ID identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address as provided by Apple Sign In; (b) household membership when you create or join a household using an invite code; (c) if you create an account via a playdate invite link, your authentication method and the invite reference used to establish the connection.
3. Information You Provide Directly
The App collects information that you enter directly, including: (a) pet profile information (name, breed, birthday, weight, gender, photo, microchip number, spay/neuter status, personality traits); (b) owner/care team information (names, phone numbers, email addresses); (c) health records; (d) uploaded documents; (e) emergency card information; (f) walk journal entries; (g) calendar events including recurring events; (h) photos with captions and album assignments; (i) essentials preferences; (j) vet expense data including date, provider name, line-item descriptions, and dollar amounts (see Section 5(c) for receipt scanning details); (k) sitter card and care guide information including feeding schedules, house rules, behavioral notes, emergency instructions, and photos; (l) medication data including medication name, dosage, frequency, start date, and notes (see Section 12.7); (m) social data including Pup Card profile information, Known Pup connections, and Playdate invites (see Section 8.5).
4. Information from Third-Party Services
If you connect a Fi smart collar, the App retrieves: (a) activity data (steps, distance, goals); (b) rest and sleep data; (c) location data (GPS coordinates as reported by the collar); (d) device data (battery, LED, connection state); (e) pet name and ID. To access this data, the App requires your Fi account credentials. See Section 6 for storage details.
5. Smart Document Scanning
(a) Health record scans: photos of veterinary documents are analyzed to extract vaccine names, dates, statuses, test results, and other medical information. The original document is retained for verification.
(b) DNA test scans: photos of DNA test results are analyzed to extract breed percentages and identification.
(c) Receipt scans: photos of veterinary receipts are analyzed to extract line-item descriptions and dollar amounts for the vet expense tracker. Personally identifiable information — including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and payment details (credit card numbers, billing addresses) — is automatically stripped on-device immediately after scanning. Only line-item descriptions and dollar amounts are retained from the OCR process. The raw OCR text is discarded after parsing. Receipt images you upload are stored on your device and, if signed in, synced to your household via Firebase so other household members can view them. Receipt images are not shared with any third party.
All document scanning is performed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework for OCR and a local text parser. No document images or extracted text are sent to external servers or third-party services for processing.
6. How Your Data Is Stored
(a) Cloud storage: Pet profiles, health records, emergency cards, walk journals, calendar events, care team contacts, park visit history, vet expense records, sitter card data, medication records, lost dog alerts, Pup Card data, Known Pup relationships, Playdate invites, and household membership data are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) for real-time syncing.
(b) Local storage: Cached content and Fi collar data are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework.
(c) Fi credential storage: Fi credentials are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain. They are never stored in Firebase or transmitted to our servers.
(d) Session data: Authentication sessions with third-party services are managed in isolated URL sessions and stored in device memory.
7. Location Data
(a) Pet location (via Fi collar): If you connect a Fi smart collar, the App displays your pet's location as reported by the collar service. This data comes from Fi's API, not from your phone's GPS.
(b) Your location (for park features): With your permission, the App uses your device's location to find nearby dog parks and to enable the park check-in feature. Your precise GPS coordinates are not stored or shared with other users.
(c) Your location (for Live Walks): When you start a Live Walk, the App uses your device's GPS to record your walking route in real time. Location tracking continues even if you lock your screen or switch to another app, so your full route is captured without interruption. When you stop the walk, location tracking stops immediately. The App does not use "Always" location permission and does not track your location outside of an active walk session. Recorded walk routes are stored locally on your device and, if signed in, synced to your household via Firebase. Walk route data can be deleted at any time.
(d) Pet location (Lost Dog Alert): If you activate a Lost Dog Alert, you may optionally choose to include your pet's last known Fi GPS location on the public alert page. This is an explicit opt-in toggle presented before the alert is published. If enabled, the last known coordinates and location name are written to a publicly accessible Firestore document that powers the alert webpage. You can deactivate the alert at any time, which immediately removes the public page and stops all location sharing. Location is never published automatically — only if you choose to include it.
Location access is requested through the standard iOS permission system, and you can revoke it at any time in your device's Settings.
8. Dog Park Check-In
(a) When you check in to a dog park, other checked-in users can see your dog's name, breed, and profile card. (b) Ghost Mode lets you see other dogs without being visible yourself. (c) Park visit history is visible only to household members. (d) Automatic check-out works while the app is open. The park check-in feature is entirely opt-in.
8.5 Pup Cards, Known Pups & Playdates
(a) Pup Cards: A Pup Card displays your dog's name, photo, breed, and park check-in history. No owner PII (full name, phone number, address, or email) is included on a Pup Card. Pup Cards are only shareable when you explicitly choose to generate and share a link. You control when and with whom you share your Pup Card link.
(b) Known Pups: Adding another dog as a Known Pup is a mutual action — both owners must agree before a connection is established. Known Pup relationships are stored in Firebase and are visible only to the two connected households. You can remove a Known Pup at any time; this immediately severs the connection and removes visibility on both sides. You can block any user at any time; blocking is immediate, prevents all future contact, and auto-cancels any pending Playdate invites. Neither removal nor blocking requires the other party's agreement.
(c) Playdates: Playdate invites include a proposed time and optional note. Invites are time-limited (48 hours in-app, 7 days via shareable link) and expire automatically if not accepted. No free-form messaging exists within the Playdate feature. All interaction is structured (accept, decline, counter-propose time only). Playdate history is stored in Firebase and visible only to the two connected households.
(d) Account required: A verified account (Apple Sign In or email) is required to access any social feature. Guest users cannot connect with other users, send invites, or create a Pup Card.
(e) Public sighting submissions (Lost Dog): When a Lost Dog Alert is active, anonymous members of the public can submit sighting reports via the public alert webpage. Sighting submissions collect only: an approximate location (latitude/longitude from the browser) and optional free-text notes. No account is required and no other personal information is collected from sighting reporters. Submissions are written directly to a Firestore subcollection accessible only to the pet owner.
9. Household Sharing
(a) Household owners can generate invite codes for caregivers to join. (b) All household members share access to pet profiles, health records, emergency cards, walk journals, calendar events, care team contacts, park visit history, vet expense records, sitter cards, Live Walk routes, and medication records. (c) Fi collar login credentials are never shared with other household members through the App. (d) Social features (Known Pups, Playdates) are scoped per-pet and visible to all household members of that pet's household.
10. Exported & Shared Data
(a) Vet prep PDF: Generated locally, shared via iOS share sheet. We do not retain copies.
(b) Sitter card / care guide: Can be exported as PDF or shared as a link. PDFs are generated locally. We do not retain copies.
(c) Instagram Stories sharing: Photos are passed to the Instagram app via the standard iOS share sheet and Instagram's URL scheme. No data is sent to Instagram's servers by DoggyDays. DoggyDays does not access your Instagram account or use any Instagram API.
(d) Emergency card: Can be shared externally at your discretion.
(e) Lost Dog flyer: You may export a Lost Dog flyer as a PNG or PDF via the iOS share sheet. The flyer contains only the information you chose to include when creating the alert. We do not retain copies of exported flyers.
(f) Pup Card link: Sharing a Pup Card generates a link to a publicly accessible webpage. The page displays only your dog's name, photo, breed, and park history. No owner contact information is included. You can deactivate the link at any time.
11. Third-Party Services
(a) Google Firebase: Authentication and data storage. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Hosted in the United States.
(d) Open-Meteo: Weather data. No personal information sent.
(e) Instagram: Image passed to Instagram app via iOS inter-app sharing. No direct server communication.
We do not send any data to third-party services for document processing. All scanning is on-device.
12. Information We Do NOT Collect
(a) We do not collect analytics, usage tracking, or behavioral data. (b) We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for advertising. (c) We do not use advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or analytics frameworks. (d) We do not send documents, photos, or personal data to third-party services for processing. (e) We do not share your precise GPS coordinates with other users. (f) We do not store personally identifiable information from scanned receipts — names, emails, phone numbers, and payment details are stripped on-device and discarded immediately. (g) We do not track your location outside of an active Live Walk session. Background location is used only to maintain route recording during a walk if the app is not in the foreground. (h) We do not include owner PII (name, phone, address, email) on Pup Cards or any publicly shared social content. (i) We do not publish your pet's location publicly without your explicit opt-in at the time of creating a Lost Dog Alert.
12.5 Vet Expense Tracker & Insurance Comparison
(a) Not financial or insurance advice. The insurance comparison feature is for general informational and illustrative purposes only.
(b) No insurance providers listed. DoggyDays does not list, link to, advertise, or promote any specific pet insurance provider. DoggyDays is not compensated by, affiliated with, or acting as an agent or broker for any provider.
(c) General industry averages only. Data is based on industry-average statistics published by the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA), stored locally on your device. This represents general pricing ranges — not personalized quotes.
(d) Your expense data stays with you. Expense data is never shared with insurance companies, advertisers, or any third party.
(e) Consult a professional. If considering pet insurance, consult directly with licensed providers.
12.6 Smart Calendar Suggestions
(a) How it works. The App reviews your calendar events from the most recent 30 days to identify patterns and suggest upcoming care activities. Suggestions are generated each time you open the calendar tab.
(b) On-device processing only. All suggestion logic runs locally on your device. No cloud-based models are used.
(c) Your responses are saved. When you accept or dismiss a suggestion, that response is stored on your device and, if signed in, synced to your household via Firebase. This ensures dismissed suggestions do not reappear and accepted suggestions are converted into calendar events. No other suggestion data is retained.
12.7 Medication Tracker
(a) What is stored. The Medication Tracker stores medication name, dosage, frequency, schedule, start date, refill date, and any optional notes you enter. This data is stored in Firebase and synced to your household.
(b) Reminders use local notifications only. Medication reminders are delivered via iOS local notifications. No server-side notification system is used for medication reminders, and no medication data is transmitted to deliver them.
(c) Your medication data stays private. Medication data is never shared with third parties, advertisers, veterinary networks, or insurance providers. It is visible only to members of your household.
(d) Not medical advice. The Medication Tracker is an organizational tool only. It does not provide veterinary or medical advice. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for your pet's medical needs.
12.8 Seasonal Tips
Seasonal Tips are editorially curated and delivered based on the current calendar date only. No user data is processed to generate or personalize tips. No external API calls are made. No personal information is collected in connection with this feature.
12.9 Lost Dog Alert
(a) What is published publicly. When you activate a Lost Dog Alert, a public webpage is created at doggydaysapp.com/lost/{alertId}. The page displays only the information you explicitly chose to include during alert creation: your dog's photo, name, breed, distinguishing features, and any optional fields you enabled (last known location, owner contact, vet info, microchip number). Each field is an individual opt-in toggle. Nothing is published without your selection.
(b) Anonymous sighting reports. The public alert page allows anyone to submit a sighting report without creating an account. Submissions collect only an approximate location and optional text notes. This data is written to a private Firestore subcollection accessible only to the pet owner. Sighting reporters are not tracked, profiled, or contacted.
(c) Alert lifecycle. Marking the dog as found immediately deactivates the public page and stops all sighting notifications. Alerts are archived (not immediately deleted) and can be permanently deleted by the user at any time. Archived alerts are automatically deleted after 30 days.
13. Data Retention & Deletion
(a) Account deletion: Available in Settings. Permanently removes all data from Firebase, including social connections, Pup Card data, Playdate history, medication records, and any active Lost Dog Alerts. Cannot be undone.
(b) Individual record deletion: Available at any time. Syncs across household members.
(c) Leaving a household: Available at any time. Last member's departure deletes all household data.
(d) Fi disconnection: Clears Keychain credentials and cached collar data.
(e) App removal: Deletes local data. Firebase data persists until account deletion. Contact us if needed.
(f) Social connections: Known Pup relationships and Playdate history are deleted immediately when you remove a connection or delete your account. Blocked relationships are retained only as a record to enforce the block; they are deleted when you unblock or delete your account.
(g) Lost Dog Alerts: Active alerts can be deactivated at any time. Archived alerts are automatically deleted after 30 days, or immediately upon account deletion.
14. Children's Privacy
DoggyDays is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
15. Security
We use Apple's Keychain, Apple Sign In, Firebase encryption, HTTPS/TLS, and isolated authentication sessions. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
16. Your Rights
You may access, correct, or delete your data via in-app settings or by contacting us.
17. California Residents (CCPA)
We do not sell personal information to third parties. Contact us to exercise your rights.
18. International Users
Data is processed and stored on Google Firebase servers in the United States.
19. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as needed. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
